THEATER COMPANY

B urles qu e Ta ngo a theater company with Buenosaireans Aires

Musical theater with a national entity using our language, dance music and imprint on stage, and with own literary works or by already established Argentine authors, develop an own language using the tango and the lyrics of the tangos that most represent us as a company.
Our name, the comparison of two worlds, burlesque and tango as the main motif of the work as the name of the company, since it identifies our criteria, respecting the styles and merging them, we try to find an evolution of our expressions without losing the essence.
This thought arises through my studies, I like so many other choreographers were formed with the influence of musical comedy and all its language, I was a tango dancer and contemporary dance and I began to merge between my knowledge and as a seated musical comedian spectator. In the audience I told myself why not use works by our authors and tell things that identify us with a more national language, so as a first step we decided as a company to take this first step towards musical theater with a national identity.
Our proposal is quite minimalist and of live assembly while the scenes occur, chairs, coat racks for live changes, mirrors, a wooden bed, picture frames of different sizes
and some black boxes prioritizing the setting of lights.
The aesthetic setting is from the 30s, it is the aesthetic that together with the designer we wanted to define us as a company of tango pin up girls in terms of men, also its aesthetics is from the 30s but more from the under or burlesques or cabaret.
As for the music, we decided not to use original versions but rather to arrange tangos as the staging in which we are going to use them and compose some electronic tangos, during the work there are two musicians who play live and do more traditional tangos but rearranged for guitar and double bass.

Setting :
Being a company of actors, dancers and singers, we wanted the rhythm not to stop, for that reason many of the things that happen in terms of changes of stage costumes, we decided to do them live, allowing the whole back to be seen on stage as part of the staging, the play. It has three interlocutors, so I call them who introduce us to the work that they speak in English, Spanish and French, and while this announcer relates the back, someone appears on stage or something is put together in a very subtle and choreographic way. Choreographic, it is also worked in the room from the public, with live track and singers in one part of the show and with live musicians and live singer in another part. The work is designed in two parts with an interval in the middle where we wanted to bring fashion with a parade showing some of the designer's work on how I merge the styles and the similarity they have (this can vary, you can do it during the reception or the entrance to the room) the idea is to be able to interact with the spectators.
On stage we use against light as a very important element in the proposal where the actors become shadows to highlight something else that we want to prioritize

Our Team

Our team was gestured after many years of work for the company led by Jorge Guinsburg and Daniel Comba, behind or on stage we have a lot of experience and the same search and theatrical aesthetics.
